Preservation Advocacy
Preserving Watts' History
Preservation of historic assets in Watts has been a founding priority for FAM. Our accomplishments include successfully working to get the Mafundi Building designated a local Historic-Cultural Monument and placed on the National Register of Historic Places. FAM was also helpful in securing the designation for the Watts Fire Station No. 65.

Currently FAM is working with the city and the Watts community to lead efforts to restore the Mafundi Building with funds from the National Trust's Conserving Black Modernism grant.
